Japanese inspiration meets local fern gully in the Gippsland hills.

Inspired by Japanese teahouses and the Australian landscape, these clients wanted a space to relax and immerse themselves in their surrounds. The teahouse is made from recycled materials and evokes memories of an outback hut.

The existing dam will be repaired and revegetated to provide habitat and refuge for the local wildlife. The teahouse and island will be connected via a timber boardwalk over the water. We hope that this project will highlight the diversity of flora from this area of Gippsland. Ancient ferns will complement a diverse palette of local flowering species to bring this garden together and blend it seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
